Life lessons for the students to learn from the ‘Harry Potter’ series
The childhood of today’s youth was spent reading the “Harry Potter” series and eagerly waiting for the release of the movie which starred their dream characters viz., Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Albus Dumbledore and the most-dreaded Lord Voldemort(you-know-who). The students of the present era could easily relate to the characters as they also must have enrolled in their first year when the series came up. They grew up with the Harry Potter series reforming their way of life.
An Insight into the ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ Plot:
Based on the original story of the J.K. Rowling “Harry Potter” series, it is the eighth book of the series written by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany. It is an act presented in two parts due to the epic nature of the plot. The story is set 19 years hence the conclusion of the “Harry Potter” series.
The plot revolves around the lives of the children of Harry Potter and Ron Weasley, and how they set out on a mission. It outcasts the relationship between a father and a son and also, the burden of the family legacy which has been passed on to the younger generation. The story picks up from the point where it had commenced on the first edition of the “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” - Albus Severus boarding the train to Hogwarts at the King’s Cross Station. The remaining plot is the journey of the offspring of the leading characters of the earlier Harry Potter series and how they would overcome the difficulties into their magical expedition in Hogwarts.
The leading characters of this play are:
â— Albus Severus: Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley’s son with his name in honor of the great Albus Dumbledore and Severus Snape. The story depicts his life on how he manages to maintain his identity with the constant pressure of his father’s legacy.
â— Rose Granger-Weasley: With a double-paralleled surname, Rose is the daughter child of Ron Weasley and Hermoine Granger. The play reveals her strained relationship with Albus Severus.
â— Scorpius Malfoy: Draco Malfoy’s son, he is a questionable character in the movie. He is speculated to be Voldemort’s son, fathered through the use of the Time Turner.
â— Cedric Diggory: The story revolves around the plot on how Albus and Scorpius try to save Cedric by obtaining the Time Turner.
â— Harry Potter: After defeating Voldemort nineteen years ago, he is now the Head of Magical Law Enforcement and is married to Ginny Weasley.
â— Hermione Granger: She is the Minister for Magic in this play and wife of Ron Weasley.
â— Severus Snape: Despite the speculations of his murder by Voldemort, he is still alive and teaches at Hogwarts.
Lessons to Learn from the Characters:
As the present youth has grown watching the Harry Potter series, there are a lot of life-changing lessons one can learn from the same. Some of them are:
â—A Friend in Need is a Friend Indeed: All of us must be acknowledged of the strong bond of friendship that existed between Harry, Ron and Hermione. The movie depicted several scenes where one friend helped the other and saved him/her from life-threatening situations. The same has been passed on to their kids in the recent play. The series is a good example of how friends can be like family.
â—Overcome One’s Fears to Move Ahead in Life: To escape fear, one has to go through it and not around it. Do you remember Ron Weasley and his nightmare of the spiders? And, how he faced it and overcame his innate fear! Well, this is an important lesson for all the young hearts that to overcome their weaknesses, one has to face the most dreaded situation of one’s life.
â—Love is Above All: Be it the maternal love - Lily’s love for Harry or the never-ending true love - Professor Snape’s love for Lily Potter; love never fades away. It is indeed the most powerful weapon to ward off the evil instincts and misfortunes in life. The students should learn from the series to inculcate the spirit of true love and to spread the same among others.
â—Teachers are Our Best Guide: From the examples of professors like Dumbledore and McGonagall; the guiding force of the preaching of the teachers has proved its worth. They are indeed our mentors in life who always have student’s best interests in their mind.
â—Appearances Can Be Deceptive: One must never form an impression on the appearance of an individual. Hagrid, for instance, with his giant-like body; had the most beautiful heart hidden inside. Professor Snape too, with his stern appearance had the pure notion towards the benefit of the Hogwarts.
In the light of the release of the new series “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child”; this play has a lot to convey to the young hearts out there. The scholars can induce some of the life-turning lessons from the series through the magical journey of wands and wizards.
